my sweet grandfather passed away last month and although he has been a very sick man for a few years it was still hard news to bear. my father's parents passed away when i was very young so my memories of them are very limited. but my mother's parents have lived through major events in my life and for so many years have been the only grandparents i have living. i adore my grandpa. he is such a sweet, loving, caring man; a great example in my life.
i was able to attend the funeral where i was able to see many family members that i haven't seen for years as well as my brothers [well...minus one] that i don't get to see often. it was a bittersweet weekend.

i'm so sorry, i only met your grandparents once but i remember them both being very sweet. funerals are so bittersweet. in my family, they always tend to turn into family reunions which is nice, but unfortunate that everyone has to come together under such circumstances. you have an awesome family, i'm glad that you guys are all so close to be there for support through things like this.
